Bolivia Aims to Export Pork and Chicken to China
With an eye on diversification, Bolivia is now negotiating to export pork and chicken to expand the agricultural sector's export volume. The announcement was made after Bolivia and the People's Republic of China signed health protocols authorizing the export of beef, donkey and horse hides, and other meat byproducts.
“Thanks to the efforts of our producers, Bolivia has opened the doors to new international markets. The signing of health protocols with China marks a historic milestone because it allows us to guarantee greater quality and safety in our products,” he stated, quoted in an institutional report.
Bolivia currently has more than 11 million head of cattle and exports nearly 40,000 tons of beef annually.
With an eye toward diversification, it is now negotiating to export pork and chicken to expand the agricultural sector's export volume, generate more employment in the sector, and, above all, strengthen the flow of foreign currency into the country.
Flores emphasized that Bolivian meatpacking plants comply with international quality protocols, and that the government will continue working to ensure that all products meet the required standards, consolidating Bolivia as a reliable and competitive supplier in global markets.
These actions are part of a strategic process of internationalizing agricultural production, mandated by President Luis Arce, with the goal of placing quality Bolivian products in demanding markets, diversifying the supply and strengthening the national economy.
